PRINCETON — Nancy Lee Riffe Fowler, 75, of Leckie, formerly
of Draper, Va., passed away on Friday Dec. 31, 2010 at Princeton Community
Hospital.
Born on Oct. 3, 1936 in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late
Albert Richard and Elsie Hanks Riffe. She was a member of the Pentecostal
Holiness Church of Allisonia, Va. and Leckie.
She served as a teacher's aid at Anawalt Elementary School for 30 years with a
beloved lifelong friend, Susie Wilson of Pageton. In addition to her parents,
she was preceded in death by a grandson, Kevin Eric Shrewsbury. She was a
devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years Junior Edward Fowler of the home,
daughters Kathalene “Kate” Shrewsbury of Lashmeet, Sharon Walls and husband
Jim of Bluefield, Karen Hunley and husband Louie of Leckie, Annette Campbell
with whom she made her home, and sons Richard “Rick” Fowler and companion
Wanda Honaker of Tazewell, Va. and William “Bill” Fowler and wife Judy of
Draper, Va., brother Dickie Riffe of North Carolina, sister Donna Loan
of Riner, Va., 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan 4, 2011 at 11 a.m. at the
Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Pastor Michael Hall and Pastor
Mary Lambert officiating.
Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton. Serving as
pallbearers will be Wayne Lambert, Willard Lambert, Derrick Jarvis, Wesley
Fowler, Zachary Fowler, Wayne Shrewsbury, and Junior Fowler.
Friends may call on Monday evening from 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
